Centralized social media = space empires. Large, heavily controlled, constantly at war with each other. Codes, laws, rules and regulations are absolute.

Fediverse is something like in Firefly, a loose confederation of independent worlds, moons, satellites, etc. each world has its own distinct flavor or law, but they can (sometimes) trade with each other.

Nostr are the space pirates and privateers. Not bound to any particular gravity well, constantly floating from place to place
