If my friend was not new to BTC himself I think he would have gone for a hardware wallet / seed plate / software solution but to keep things simple she’s going to receive a metal plate.

A metal or titanium plate remains the best solution over time. Maybe even an engraved seedQR, for ease of use.
I'd add a physical and digital copy of books about bitcoin, a hardware wallet that can read seedQR like a seed signer or coldcard, all wrapped up in a sealed pack that shouldn't be opened before 18 years. 🎁🔐
