After five years we are still synching Bitcoin node for days over the internet.

Why this nostr:nprofile1qqsfy229w70e8lgtxavlz9t78k06yrel6fxyhreteafqet8kfxhhwmg2c6av2 space tech didn't became a standard?

Are satellites burned in atmosphere already?

Won't take days if you have a fast connection.

Let's be real. Majority of People's homes are not connected to fast optic fiber.

Majority of people's homes also don't have a satellite dish

True. Probably only a few have since there's not much talk about this. I didn't even know about their satellites till now 🫣

GM! 🍳☕️🌅 My first #Bitcoin synch was in 2016... In 2017, due to a power outage, I had to do a reindex that took a few days. Since I didn't intend to mine, I decided to make a full copy that I keep off-line and updated weekly since then. For daily use with the wallet, I created a pruned version of just 5GB that I regularly use on the Tor network on my devices and that I distribute to some friends via USB stick. This saves them from having to download the entire blockchain. Although it doesn't solve the problem for solo miners, it can be an interesting alternative for those who only need to create and store their keys locally, in addition to allowing them to move around the wallet normally.

Bom dia! 🌅☕️🍳.

Nice advice 👍

My opinion is that, if you are up to storing an additional copy of the blockchain somewhere, you might as well get yourself a cheap laptop or raspberry and rather run another node

Yes... have 5 nodes in various pcs+one banana pi running sometimes... 😬

Still faster than ETH. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah looks like Ethereum was still popular in 2020

Expanding the capabilities with an uplink ;-)

Woohoo 🙌 i want that 🥹

It seems like the other answers didn't explicitly tell you: they aren't claiming that syncing over satellite doesn't take days, they're saying syncing an ETH full node with fast internet takes even longer (cue argument about what constitutes a full node..).

ETH thing is just unrelated noise which wasn't in my mind when I posted this. I was focused on the satellites and only the satellites.

OK you can ignore the ETH part, was just trying to help with an (apparent?) misunderstanding about how fast it is.
