I feel like nostr is a lot like bitcoin: It's primary value offering as an open protocol is in censorship resistance, and most people don't give a shit about that. The early adopters are the liberty weirdos "get" it and spend/waste an extraordinary amount of time trying to make other people get it as well. Eventually, it clicks into place for more people when government misanagement and overreach obviates the need for such a solution, and then we hit scaling problems.

Bitcoin does actually have mass appeal, but people don't want to be on a social media about it lol. They've also said this over and over again. Their complaints are mostly rubbished and ignored.

I think it has mass appeal currently as a ponzi scheme that fools everyone into being more free.

The problem isn't that nostr is rife with bitcoiners. The bitcoiners are here, because its first class feature offerings literally address bitcoiner primary concerns. So instead of overwhelming the Bitcoin weirdo flavor of nostr, you have to make more freedom weirdos.
