Luke is one of the longest active #bitcoin core developers and recently sent this regarding ordinals.

I do not think Casey intends to "attack" bitcoin, but for the first time (in a long time), I am worried about bitcoin.

Curious as to why he thinks that. I don’t have bird app anymore so I can’t read the rest of the thread.

I don't understand this reasoning. Why would ordinals lead to Bitcoin death?

Luke would say it’s bloating the chain, leading to difficulty in running a node. He is extremely strict in his position that one needs to run a personal node to run Bitcoin.

Luke has been known to say some pretty controversial and inflammatory things. While I agree everyone who hodls Bitcoin should run their own node, Luke also mishandled his private keys and claims to have been robbed of 200 bitcoin, so his opinion may be colored by his history.

So far, he hasn’t made a compelling case. If someone could make a compelling case against ordinals, I am confident the community would coalesce and agree to a change. There’s just no reason to do anything. Especially because the market will resolve this when blocks become more crowded.
