š§ š” Time to Bring Back the Guillotine ā For Cognitive Sustainability šŖā»ļø
(A thought experiment in democratic accountability)
We talk a lot about sustainable energy.
But what about sustainable leadership?
Every election cycle, we invest our collective attention, hope, and brainpower into leaders who promise progressāthen deliver distraction, dysfunction, and disaster.
And they retireā¦
To think tanks.
To memoirs.
To yacht panels.
Meanwhile, the planet burns, the working class drowns in debt, and trust in institutions evaporates.
Maybe itās time for a radical idea:
Eco-friendly leadership offboarding.
Not violenceā
But symbolic, recyclable, publicly-verified termination protocols.
Imagine:
ā Leaders sign cognitive performance contracts
ā Measured by actual outcomes, not PR optics
ā Miss the mark?
ā Automatic ejection from power, with a dramatic flourish powered by wind or solar.
Letās be honest:
We need less career politics, and more consequence engineering.
The guillotine of old was crude.
But the metaphor?
Itās timeless:
š Use it or lose it.
š§ If you can't lead with brains, you forfeit the right to lead.
Because the real renewable resource is human intelligenceā
And democracy should stop wasting it.
