Ok, so I found a way to finish this today and push a functional beta version live.

Nostr Event Deletion Webapp.

It can’t really cause any bad side effects - just read before you sign and only enter event ids you want to delete. You can only delete your own events.. relays will reject deletion request for events you don’t own.

I’ll publish the code formally after I can clean it up (it’s ugly) - however, you can just save the HTML and it includes everything.

#[2] #[3] just stumbled upon this

We are looking at using images, this is directly related to the note. Interesting though, will test it out.

Using images? What are you working on?

User writing a note like usual but before writing selects ‘Removable’ or whatever it’s called.

When they type, the app screenshots it instead of text on a note. The screenshot is sent to nostr.build, responds with the image, and posts that.

Looks exactly like text, but it can now be deleted.

Now integrate all of that into a single button to push above the keyboard.

Little problem we are having is IF someone already saw it, it will be stored in their cache for a while.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you never will.

Interesting approach. If encrypted as a DM it could self destruct on first fetch.

No solution will be ever copy or persistence free. Always a risk or opportunity to skip, defer or prevent remote deletion.

The Yang to this app would be one called: thingstheydontwantyoutosee.com which lists everything that was "deleted".

My evil twin. We finally meet 😄

Alas, we meet.

Great, will test this later 😄

Here is a post about the beta version, since this earlier post is pretty active too. #[2]

I have tested this and it seems most popular relay will honor deletion request. Only some relays seems not honor it and keep events as long as they want 😅
