For me it was the understanding Trace Mayer’s 7 types of network effects that occur in the Bitcoin ecosystem:
- Speculation
- Merchant Adoption
- Consumer Adoption
- Security
- Developer Mindshare
- Financialization
- Adoption as a World Reserve Currency
That the above-listed network effects can only serve to strengthen it making any competition highly unlikely to take over. HBU?

I love this as a starting point though I wrote out how I see it in a simplistic way. WDYT? I feel the Free Market recognises the CONSUMER in a unique way- non spending in the credit /theft system as a first step of development. A unique flex!
I honestly don’t remember having my a-ha moment. I think it’s because I’m such a skeptic that when I did start my journey down the rabbit hole I went through it with a mindset of punching and kicking to avoid falling for something that seemed too good to be true. I tried to look for it’s weaknesses. I would seek out as much FUD as possible to look for patterns. I’m not super computer savvy and I still don’t fully grasp a lot of the inner workings, but I figure Satoshi left us a fucking beautiful canary so we would always know as long as his stack is secure, then our little piece of the pie was for sure going to be safe. I think for me it was just a curing process that took years to solidify. That’s my a-ha moment.
