To our credit, few of us are even bothering to ask for an invite code to Cinnamon or whatever the Hell it's called.

What is crazy is this really is not a mktg tactic.

I just got so fed up with the nonsense and having to humor how people convey and think about nostr.

So I just started venting and throwing myself to the wolves to get it all out and over with.

Now we can all be honest with each other.

And it really did help nostr too imo, it's not like i lied about anything, or was insincere. People were delusional.

Also nice to expose how toxic and incapable of debate so many idols are.

Anyway, this is just how I am, thanks for your consideration!

There are a lot of good ideas in Pubky. Also a lot of good ideas in nostr:npub1acg6thl5psv62405rljzkj8spesceyfz2c32udakc2ak0dmvfeyse9p35c 's Mosaic. In Nostr too, of course.

Why not check them all out? You'll get a good sense of the wider Venn diagram, if nothing else.

I'm not interested in evaluating social media as a set of features. I want to be in a place with my bitcoin frens that doesn't make me feel strung out on algorithm-supplied dopamine. And nostr fills that gap insanely well, regardless of its wonkiness.

Also, why even consider a platform that can have invite codes? I'm not even going to bother evaluating how that works, because it ostensibly sounds permissioned, and we are the wrong audience for that sort of gamified dreck.

You arent gonna evaluate it because you like being ignorant.

You like being ignorant because you dont have to face reality.

The reality is that every server on the planet is permissioned, including nostr relays, and thus could require invite codes... or payments or passwords or kyc.

You cant refute Pubky by guessing it is evil. It isn't. It's just a better design.

What is the address of the Home Server that doesn't require the invite code?

We are running a beta version of a scalable homeserver (hosting service) right now. Some people have experimented with running their own, but i doubt anyone else is offering hosting yet.

You could try running one and let us know any bugs you encounter.

In a few months we will also release a personal homeserver that anyone can run (not for scaled hosting services).

You could also make any homeserver paradigm you want on your own. The protocol is modular and open.

But your non-frens are here too, saying spicy things, and you're responding to those spicy things. Either that fits with your vision of the place you want to be, or you are not in fact in that place.

The nice thing is that I can peace out of unpleasant conversations knowing that in a couple days, the whole debate will roll off the timeline and become irrelevant. There's no black-box algorithm constantly resurfacing it and enticing me to jump back in.

I can spare a few drops of dopamine knowing that pubky will be a distant nostr memory in a week.

In this case, John is the surrogate algorithm. And he'll tucker himself out soon enough.

Either he's good at stirring the pot or the pot is begging to be stirred.

On nostr, either side runs out of energy/interest within a week or two.
