Those numbers can easily be gamed. Zap a person a lot of sats in public on nostr. Receive them back in private. Gay way to try and flex imo
Do you think thatās happening a lot? Youāre right at how easy that would be but thereās so little to be gained from appearing to be generous via negative zaps. I think itās a good piece of a bigger picture on a profile. For example if you add time on NOSTR and engagement you can make a better judgment call on the character.
Iām not accusing anyone of anything, but trying to flex how many sats you giveaway just by itself as one number is weak. If you give away a bunch of sats just to a close group of 10 friends, is that different than the same amount of sats to 100s of people you donāt know? Thats what Iām getting at
Good call out. So if there was a way to know that the majority of those sats went to strangers and were not returned, would that be closer to an ideal indicator of altruistic zapping?
Iām curious about this topic because I think there are people here who are so behind the mission that theyāre zapping strangers and I think thatās an amazingly hopeful signal if captured correctly.

A cool thing would be a visual breakdown of dots on a chart. Where each dot is an npub. The size of the dot is the amount zapped. And the X axis is time. The Y axis can be the follower count of the npub receiving the zaps.
