Raspberry Pi is one way to run it, yeah. Helpful to look up tutorials on putting a Pi together for those less experienced with handling one.

Umbrel also sells it's own hardware. I know a guy running Umbrel on an old Dell computer too.

Start9 is also an option. Less apps available overall but if you mainly want to spin up a node it is a good choice. Also can be run on a Pi. Alternatively, I think they provide their own hardware option as well.
