What is the theory/explanation behind this? I always loosely hear about it, but I’ve never seen convincing video of it, nor heard a solid explanation of the “why.”

This looks decently real, but I have a natural distrust (especially having done a good bit of VFX) of all “look at this phenomenon” videos 😂

Just found this.. the other one also cam from Instagram.

"Scientists habe proposed many hipotheses about ball #lightning over the centuries. Scientific data on natural ball lightning remains scarce, owing to its frequency and unpredictability. The presumption of its existence depends on reported public sightings, which have produced somewhat inconsistent findings. The first ever optical spectrum of what appears to have been a ball lightning event was published in 2014, and included a video at high frame rate."

Failed to post.. this one.

These videos are both fake 🫂

Could absolutely be that are both fake, but I definitely believe this phenomenon exist. The first time I heard about it was from my father that witnessed one when he was a kid, he said one of those enter the house from the window, moving slowly and "like a bee" before dissolving. He described it as big as an orange

This one is definitely VFX. It’s pretty good, but some of the light reflections and the “zapping” of the light give it away the worst.

Yeah the reflections in the end and that zapping looks strange indeed 🤙👀

Notice the light casing doesn’t shatter when the sparks fly. It’s just an overlay.

Then in addition, they tried really hard, but the light on the leaves and grass, plus the sharpness and length of the shadows would be far more defined and intense if that was as bright as they are trying to make it seem. They did some very light highlighting on the trees but I suspect that because they couldn’t get the definition and depth of the actual branches and shape of the foliage (ie. The lower branches and leaves casting sharp shadows on leaves and branches above), that they minimized it specifically because they couldn’t get it to look good. I’ve dealt with this frustration myself, lol. If you don’t prepare your footage ahead of time with practical lighting, then it’s just insanely hard to get it right afterward. It’s always best to do as much practical as possible, and to use VFX to enhance it and build around it. Saves you a *ton* of trouble 😆

Guy the VFX and #lightning master! 👀😁⚡

Thanks for taking time to write down this explanation my friend 💜🤙

My parents had a similar experience during a lightning storm. It buzzed about for a few seconds before it fried their TV

Mine too! 👀🤙

The government says it was just a weather balloon.
