Thanks!

Beech is so underrated. It has some plain straight grain, but a panel like that top can be very interesting if boards are mixed properly.

Plus is has some cool chatoyancy!

PS. if you build something out of that beech wood, feel free to post it in the community n/woodworking 😄

I was pleasantly surprised by the grain! I’ve got a bookmatched pair earmarked for an electric guitar body.

Which app do you use for nostr communities?

Ooooh that's not the beech I'm used to 🥹

Beautiful, can't wait to see the final piece!

You can either use Amethyst (android only) or satellite.earth (the pwa is awesome)

Thanks, I’ll check that out!

I think this beech is quite dark because it’s wet and newly cut, it’s mellowed out a bit now. Hopefully it doesn’t crack and warp too much and I’ve cut it thick enough to allow for shrinkage!

There is a cool website that's basically a big encyclopedia of wood for woodworkers. Check out the part about the shrinkage, it may be of help

Nice one, I estimated 5% radial shrinkage so should be ok as long as I don’t have to take too much off to flatten it!
