How would you define the term fiat?
Not specifically in relation to money, but as a concept. I see many utilize the term more broadly, so this is a thought experiment.

Schrodingers (insert thing)
Fake af
βBy Decreeβ
Fiat food = food by decree
Fiat energy = energy by decree
Fiat education = education by decree
Itβs a blanket term which can describe any system centrally imposed by threat of violence.
I am liking the takes so far, but I've seen it used very broadly.
My thoughts (ever evolving):
Centralized
Controlled by an authority
Loses value or holds little to no value
Usually used as a method of control or leverage on it's users
by decree = because I said so
This paper is money βbecause we said soβ
Also extends to food, entertainment, productivity, etc..
By decree
By order
Forced
Just because they say it's so, I don't think so. Fiat food: they say it's food, fiat money: they say it's money, etc.
Like McDonald's for example?
Its a thought process brought on by a constant need to consume using your depleting resources before they are worthless
Like everyone else is saying. By decree. If it really had value or was the right thing to do it wouldnβt have to be forced.
in general terms as "PONZI"
