a sizeable amount of the professional creative software for mac is only available via the software company's website. the second answer is business models. the closer the devices get to the mac, the more they'll be pressured to get rid of the walled-garden.

If I remember correctly, there are similar exceptions for apps that big businesses use, like slack and office.

Enougj big companies would move platform, not enough private users do.
