I was one of them. I naively, but in good faith, wanted to support what appeared to be a turn for the better. Alas, it was not to be. I canceled, I’m here, and I’m much better off for it.

For me on Twitter 99% of my followers were bots and almost no one reacted to my tweets. Here I am interacting with so many people. Loving it. PV
Same here! I have 75 followers on Twitter and I'm sure that half are bots.
Now I reached almost the same follower count on Nostr, but I feel better about it because I know it's genuine humans spreading likes and boosts and zaps.

Has someone implemented a spaces-like system for nostr? Seems like you’d need special, and very powerful, relays to handle that.

If I start a Twitter space, maybe 10 minutes? Maybe 30? At some point, the whole app just crashes and I have to force stop it
If I join one, maybe 5 minutes in and I can't see other speakers, audience members, or who is talking

I had some issues with it working from time to time but was able to join spaces on Android.

I'd love to believe you're right, but sadly I see too many who don't really care about privacy, or even comprehend why it matters. So maybe it could work. Who'd have thought we'd have followed the model of an authoritarian gov during Covid and put our citizens under house arrest.

I get new bot followers everyday. I barely have real followers. Can't imagine what it's like for bigger accounts.
