I promise my previous comment was not meamt to be ironic, but it illustrates the point perfectly. In middle of writing a post, and I had to leave the app for a moment. I did not knowingly hit reply, but there is a reply anyways. Issues like this and slow UI are what are driving my friends back to centralized social media.

I hardly believe that. Every nostr client could be fast and flawless, but without The Algorithmâ„¢ they will get bored and leave.
I think there is probably truth to both sides, but we can hardly test as the current clients are far from fast and flawless clients. So far I've used primal, coracle, and freemfrom. All of them are quite slow and occasionally buggy. A friend of mine who was on Nostr and enjoying it gave up after posts repeatedly failed. To be clear, I dont have instagram, get on FB about 4 times a month, and use x about twice a week. YouTube is the only social media I use consistently. I have been trying to use Nostr daily because I love the ideas, but I can completely understand folks who dont use it currently do primarily to UI. After all the chance of getting zapped is far more exciting than algorithms.
Algorithms get better and better but sometimes they can be used for evil or get flawed. In my opinion its best to have freedom of choice - boring mode, algorithm mode, your own settings mode ...
