If someone wanted to add an alternative to deepL and libre translate, is that as easy as submitting a pull request?

Depends on which service, but generally, yes. Or ask me and I’ll see if I can add it. In my opinion, keeping it to two options seemed good enough. One is an open source option (but with poor translation quality), and the other is proprietary (but is the best translation service available).
it’d be great to have a non-KYC option. I understand not wanting to clutter it, also it would be nice if people could change that easily, just like they change relays. Perhaps could move to a standard that’s simply a url and an api key, and the user can change it within the app?
There’s no standard translation API that is shared across service providers. The only non-KYC option available is LibreTranslate as far as I can tell and that is configurable to any URL.
