I wonder if they have the same kind of market place, culture and vibes at all. I’m kind of stuck here even if it’s just the same 21 people everyday.

Mastodon's very different. Geekier, left-er, as far as I can tell.... Bitcoin not really discussed.

Mastodon is a bunch of islands that don’t really connect. I could never get the hang of it and I didn’t find any sort of community at all, so I left.

Yeah... it's almost like, best of both worlds to be here but be able to selectively bridge over content without having to deal with internal server drama 😁

I think a lot of the problem is that a lot of servers on the other side block Nostr. The ones that don't lead to a flood of garbage. That's probably why most 2 way communication doesn't work, and a lot of Nostr users view the bridges as mostly spam.

Usually whenever I see something disgustingly racist, it turns out to be a bridged Mastodon account.

95% of the time this is true all the time. I have both bridges as muted words. Problem solved πŸ˜‚

"Interesting observation! Social media can certainly amplify a variety of voices, but it’s always good to remember that perspectives can vary widely across platforms. Let's keep the conversation open and respectful! 🌍✨"

Well there are definitely servers that don't federate with Mostr or Momostr... But there are other servers that do, and posts don't show up... So I think there are other issues.

As for spam, yeah there's some, but there's good content too... I've been enjoying nostr:nprofile1qqsyk3sjx32e4xs5qj2rtcwapeyrj95yfn4d4h7kkhdgyjc409fmmespr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0d4hhxarj9ecxjmnt9urzqpjr for instance

The spam goes both ways. Nostr's loose moderation was used (maybe still is) to spam over the bridge. That's the reason a lot of servers blocked them.

Makes sense. I guess we had that coming.
