I am a Mulato Astatke fan! He’s great
One of my favourite genres, but mostly the old stuff, 60s. And the cross to bossa nova or ethiopian or afrobeat.
Peaceful: Bill Evans - Peace Piece
Earthy: Pharoah Sanders - Thembi
Beautiful jazz singing: Chet Baker - Born to be Blue
Modern, high energy: Snarky Puppy - Lingus
Twinkley, sparkley magic dust: Eroll Garner - Misty
Easy listening: Mulligan/Baker - Festive Minor
Spiritual: Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchitananda
The pinnacle of jazz guitar imho: Ted Greene (all of his stuff, but „a certain smile“ is my favourite currently)
The most ridiculous jazz harmony, an absolute journey of a song: Jacob Collier - Moon River
ive watched La La Land, so you could say im a pretty big jazz connoisseur
This is my all-time favourite jazz album, for what it's worth.
I'll post some more and tag them with #jazzstr
I have some catching up to do. Perfect post-work
Getting into jazz is the ultimate end-point of listening to prog. There's no better way to alienate your friends and family than becoming a jazz-head but that's fine because, like meth, it's a path to finding better friends anyway.
