#Nostr is the superior protocol. It is.

Why is [barely] anyone using it?

List why you think 👇 and if you think this is a long or short term problem.

If anything the other social media platform alternatives buy us time so we can get it right.

Short term. Network effects, the current speed / UX that centralized platforms offer, and (unfortunately) more addictive designs.

A family relative of mine, when asked about it, immediately thought “you mean that bitcoin app?” Short term problem.

Though I don’t see that as a problem as it brings awareness toward bitcoin, but it does kind of take away Nostr’s standalone value as a censorship-resistant, decentralized protocol. In short, they don’t quite understand the technology behind it and generalize it as a bitcoin application

because it’s not centralized

No easy delete, bigotry

The answers I get when I invite people are 1) their network isn't here, 2) they don't understand Bitcoin.

I think this is short term, and the best think I can think of to fix it is to build bridges to other services like X or Blue sky, much like was done with the Fediverse and Mastodon.

I believe it is mostly a UX issue.

Selecting a client, creating an account, understanding nsec/npub, ...

Not to mention the interactions with Bitcoin/LN.

It's a lot to digest and manage.

Onboarding & understanding the npub/nsec

UX & understanding npub/nsec

Limited content/communities

Other, easier, more co-worker and MSM approved alternatives

Did I mention understanding the whole nsec/npub thing…
