If anything the other social media platform alternatives buy us time so we can get it right.
Short term. Network effects, the current speed / UX that centralized platforms offer, and (unfortunately) more addictive designs.
A family relative of mine, when asked about it, immediately thought “you mean that bitcoin app?” Short term problem.
Though I don’t see that as a problem as it brings awareness toward bitcoin, but it does kind of take away Nostr’s standalone value as a censorship-resistant, decentralized protocol. In short, they don’t quite understand the technology behind it and generalize it as a bitcoin application
because it’s not centralized
No easy delete, bigotry
The answers I get when I invite people are 1) their network isn't here, 2) they don't understand Bitcoin.
I think this is short term, and the best think I can think of to fix it is to build bridges to other services like X or Blue sky, much like was done with the Fediverse and Mastodon.
I believe it is mostly a UX issue.
Selecting a client, creating an account, understanding nsec/npub, ...
Not to mention the interactions with Bitcoin/LN.
It's a lot to digest and manage.

Other, easier, more co-worker and MSM approved alternatives
