There's also a lot of British cuisine which is just not made or known now. I'm not that familiar with that sorta thing tbh lol.

I think it's partly cos spices wouldn't make sense with some of that, like you don't need a spicy roast boar or pheasant or whatever lol.

I'm also not really sure of the history but I doubt the majority of the population had access to expensive spices. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

(We don't all live in palaces, and some of us are still peasants lol 😿)

The idea that the British empire controlled so much territory and in the history books it says they literally traded spices as a main stay, but then everyone says their food is bland🤷🏽

As for your point about commoners having the money for spices that's the real thing. I imagine the royals traded spices with other countries more as currency rather than "bring their culture here!" I wonder how much of it actually made it to England rather than being controlled by British traders but really only going the next country over our what have you.
