Hegemony is falling like dominoes, it's very apparent on geo-political level.

I hope this is not his last picture or apperance then. ๐ซก Omar Nino๐

The problem is often that one rulership only replaces the other. And it changes little for the people in the end
Uranium is a major export for Niger. They supply 5% of world supply. They are also an extremely poor country. Expect those shipments to be gobbled up by China and Russia.
I hope he'll learn from the mistakes of his predecessor, Thomas Sankara, and not go full commie on his people. He should give freedom a chance, but I won't hold my breath...๐
France controls its former colonies in West Africa through their currency. I donโt always see central banks as the bad guys but in this case itโs truly evil.

Yeah I was reading about it and its shocking, France is still an Empire, it controls more sea than entire EU.

But, but we are the "good guys", we Europeans (this is irony)
Supplying another tyranny. Baia, baiaโฆ

Wow, it's stagnant. I really feel bad for the people living in these areas.
The product of decades of financial repression via the French colonialist currency aka the CFA Franc
French colonization was worse than British colonization. All their colonies still speak French because they erased their culture and languages.
They are definitely not the "good guys" in these areas.
The Spanish were equally brutal in central and South America.
Truly tragic losses of knowledge, ancient cultures, loss of life, and just general needless destruction.
Imagine if all the wealth they gathered in the form of gold could have been instead held in an instrument that couldnโt be easily seized by violence.

I think that we in Europe have to keep one thing in mind: our
wealth and also our economic strength is always also based on the poverty (colonization) and the crises and wars of other regions of the world. We are doing well because others are doing badly! Is France the worst player and in the colonial game? Maybe. But Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Germany also play their roles. What really pisses (sorry) me off is that Europe always looks so patronizingly at Africa. After all, Europe provides development aid is always emphasized. The responsibility for much of what happens in Africa is pushed aside. That's why #Bitcoin is so important for Africa.
I don't think it's just a French thing. Sometimes, the British committed some of the worst imaginable atrocities, and Churchill laughed at those with racist phrases. Every powerful country was doing it, but of course that doesn't make it right.
I try not to judge history by current standards, recognizing that humans have done some very awful things in the past and within their own civilizations.
Come on. Nothing even close to British colonisation. In fact it is still a thing and brits seems to be proud if it. Look at the North America.
I disagree, they certainly did many bad things but if you look into the Spanish conquest of central and South America it was much worse than what the British did in North America.
I will respectfully disagree with parts of it. Please, consider this: It's because Europe was already rich in the first place, that it was able to colonise Africa.
Colonial endeavours were megalomaniac and audacious projects of rich countries that made no economic sense (like all government programs!). This is why the "pragmatic Germans", unlike the British and the French, were never enthusiastic about it.
I think basic things like freedom, respect of property rights etc, that were never a reality in Africa, can better explain the wealth gap between the continents, and this is why bitcoin is so important, because it will bring freedom, property rights etc, and therefore, true and long-lasting development.
When looking at the atrocities committed by colonial powers, it's important to add some context. Africa was almost never a peaceful continent. It was true before, during colonial times, and also today.
