Yesterday for Trump Inauguration we witnessed the swearing in ceremony of JD Vance and then Donald J. Trump.

The ceremony invocation was led by some Christian Ministers and the benediction was led by a Rabbi and two more Christian Ministers. This was very nice.

But let's talk about swearing in.

---

Mat 5:33-37 KJV ¶Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34. But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:

35. Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

That's pretty clear to me. How about military service? How about going to court?

Are we so corrupt that the obvious is brushed under the rug? We even swear on the Bible that says: "Swear not at all." Those are Jesus'words.

A great example of why swearing and oaths are no good is in the Mahabharata. More than once a ruler or potential ruler makes a noble oath and gets his behind handed to him.

We in this modem age take oaths and break them with impunity, carelessness or inside we have knots of stress or consciousness that physically render us I'll. It's no good.

Any thoughts on this?

Do we want true freedom or do we want lip service?

Why don't we just say, "Thank you for the opportunity to serve or testify. It is my intention to do a great job."

In the beginning was the Word! God didn't begin his story with "I promise I won't rug you". A Man, a decent man, when he says something it is that way and that way only. Promises, oaths and whatnot are not a good start, to say the least.

Making a promise or taking an oath implies that usually you're not to be trusted, therefore you jump through some hoops in order to fool others and ultimately yourself in the process.

I took an oath for the military in 1995 and as children we had the Pledge of Allegiance.

Recently as of last year I went to a Tea Party meeting and the beginning was an invocation of prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Some people think it's a great idea but it's contrary to the words of Jesus so there is that, too.

In basic military training were were given tiny New Testament Bibles of the King James Version with red letters of Jesus that you could read in red blackout light conditions!

So many contradictions.

Yes, thanks for bringing it up. I haven't thought about it in a very long time. I have sinned a few times in this regard. Well, it's never too late to wash that old stuff, innit? I obviously wasn't thinking clearly.

The Bible as gods word has been used to justify so much bloodshed and empty words throughout history. Why should it be different now? Cloak yourself in righteousness to do evil. Same shit different epoch.
