I'm going to tell my friends tonight that I'm uninstalling FB Messenger and if they wish to talk to me, they're going to need to install SimpleX 👀 I only keep FB Messenger around for them and I absolutely hate FB using my data. Wish me luck.

My family uses Signal, but outside of a couple friends, most use FB Messenger because they're big FB users.

I was also a FB user but I haven’t seen countries where FB messenger is relevant still today. Are you from the states? For some weird thing I found friends from the state that use it

There are many groups on Facebook to classifieds and hobbies/meetups. It's hard to get away from it.

I know and by the way, I’m the admin of a FB Group “bitcoin Argentina” with 80k members but nowadays I don’t think anybody uses FB messenger as default other than specific things and 99% people use WhatsApp (no one use text messages)

I think whatsapp is a different tool though of course can be used same way.. but you can have your identity and messages detached from your Facebook profile

Good point! I've considered creating a burner FB account for that purpose. Just never got around to it.
