I’m looking for a software that can listen to a song and allow me to virtually mute tracks.

How cool would it be for an aspiring musician to listen to a song and mute the vocals and all but one instrument?

My son is learning drums and it was an idea we came up with while talking about music and learning instruments.

How cool would it be if artists would release two versions of the music - normal version and a raw version with all the tracks available to turn up/down?

Here's an example of it removing the drum track from The Devil Went Down to Georgia. It's absolutely amazing at separating instruments, but if there's a lot of synthetic sounds and effects, it struggles.

yes! it's a great idea.

Ages ago there were Music Minus One recordings of concertos with everyone except the soloist (so that aspiring instrumentalists could play along).

Moises should take care of this for you.

Thought of this as well. Best I could come up with would be a Creative Commons based GitHub for music and sounds. Where the meta data and the web application could construct a song like compiling code with flags on and off for various tracks and enable people to clone/ fork a song and remix.
