EU policy is mostly driven by the corrupt European Commission that's hellbent on war with Russia, militarization and digital surveillance (chat control, mandatory data retentionat the ISP level, digital id, age verification, CBDC).

The original poster is missing that they aren't doing this because they want to abandon swiss privacy. They are doing it because switzerland itself is seemingly abandoning it with decryption laws. So obviously proton isnt investing there anymore and may jump ship entirely. As a proton user I don't care which country as long as it has strict privacy respecting laws.
