In my personal opinion, it's better to display the username than the NIP-05 alias.
Username is not unique, better nip05.
NIP-05 is misleading.
It's not verification per-se. It's just a DNS alias.

Sorry, it has nothing to do with PoW.
It's delegating the identity to a third-party most of the times.
If the domain is owned, I believe there is proof of work.
It's just proof that you have access to the domain. There is no verification.
You have access to the domain (and a webserver and a certificate)... or you are using a third-party service and you are trusting them with managing your identity.
And I would say most of the time it will be the former option.

It is a bit confusing to show all three. Also confusing that most clients show only the nip05domain instead of user@nip05domain.com.
However, not everybody has a nip05. The purpose of nip05 (and any badge representing nip05) gets watered down when anybody can get a public nip05 from a client app or service. It’s only really useful to show that somebody is affiliated with a domain that is not a public service.

Yes, it's redundant and looks messy as it is now.
If Username=Display Name do not display username.
But I like being "null". It's the "and void" part that makes me nervous.
