I have no special knowledge, but it is far more in the interest of the RF to blow up the nuclear plant than for Ukraine or the US to do it because (1) it keeps Ukraine down significantly, with the loss of power and (2) it makes the use of a tactical nuclear weapon afterwards less of an escalation... "hey, we already have nuclear fallout so it's no big escalation".

Sure it could be done as a false flag, but I don't understand why the US would want to enter a full on nuclear war with Russia. I still have to believe both sides are trying to avoid that outcome. I could be wrong (there is evidence against me).

So I'm leaning against this being a false flag. I think it is more likely that Russia is considering it.

If you pay attention to my views on this conflict you'll know that I've often taken the other side. But I'm more interested in what I think is likely to be true than in being on a side.

The current fascists in power may truly believe the world will end in the next few years because of climate change.

If so, they’re a death cult.

The sooner their nukes fall the sooner we reach whatever post apocalyptic utopia they’re dying for.

Money and control. The US financial system *will* fall apart without lubrication, and everyone with influence in Washington has vested interests in maintaining that. Throw in the politics and it’s clear why the US would want this war to continue - bring NATO in and their TAM for weapons sales grows massively whilst having justification for extreme authoritarianism to hold power.

If Russia wanted to use nukes they would have already. They’re clearly not interested in totally destroying Ukraine, the US/EU are already holding summits carving up the rebuilding contracts (estimated $400B) - the more they destroy the more money they can give to their friends whilst claiming the moral high ground.

I know you’re not a Current Thing kinda guy but gonna have to disagree with you on this one.

Fair enough. You have thought about it.
