I read that humans used to always have larger jawlines but because of the soft food and baby food we eat when we're young it makes our face muscles weak.

Also the jawline could incorporate the wisdom teeth as well in the past.

I think it's also malnurishment. Grains & sugar stunt growth where meat would otherwise fuel it.
