Issue getting SMB (Mac) to connect to nas (local) via vlan.

Upon connecting it sees the folders on NAS to connect but it throughs an error.

Checked firewall rules.

Any suggestions or ideas?

"AN error"... very precise...

It says (on the Mac) something to the effect ‘it cannot connect’ even though it sees the folders I can connect to. I am not positive but I think it’s a block on the NAS passing traffic back to the client via vlan. I need to look at the rules again.

Finder, Go, Connect to Seever, it sees the folders on server, message “There was a problem connecting to the server ‘ip_address’”.

I found some other resources to potentially troubleshoot the matter.

SMB requires a user and (in most cases) pw. Maybe that is the problem.

You need to set this up on server side.

I m not familiar with Apple. Some SMB servers rject connections if the SMB username and your client user name differ, cos your client system might automatically put in your client system username as SMB user.

Thanks. I believe it specifies the creds of the NAS user. I’m going to dig in on it today. Much appreciated!

NAS user and SMB user are different. Is your NAS Linux based?

Say it out loud with me “I am (not you) a Moron” 🤣 ffs I had ‘no access’ on the folder thinking RW was in play. Problem moronically solved 🤙

No worries, happened to me too in the past...took a while till I found out 😂🤗🤝

One thing all of this teaches me is to persist. So rewarding once solved. Thank you for your help. Your original note/reply was the best (and true).

Plebs together strong 💪🤝🤗

Back at you! 🙏
