Is your friend filter on? 
There was an issue related to the friend filter, which I have not experienced lately that wiped DM requests for me
Yes, it was on! I think that was it, didn’t know what that was for, much less that it also filtered DMs?!?

Should be more intuitive 🤔 Top right seems to be out of the field of view. And often I just toggle it by accident.
