We’re hours away from the #Bitcoin halving, and I can’t help but reflect on the profound transformation this journey has inspired in my life.

Bitcoin has not just altered the mechanics of our understanding of freedom money; it has fundamentally changed us from the inside out.

It prompts us to question and often break free from conventional societal beliefs, leading us on a path less traveled, towards actions and choices that were once unimaginable.

Imagine, for a moment, the parallel lives we might have led had we not embraced this shift. Where would we be if we had remained cocooned within the familiar confines of traditional financial systems and societal expectations?

Bitcoin's ethos challenges us to rethink what we accept and to redefine what we strive for.

It's more than digital currency; it's a catalyst for personal revolution.

Every decision, every road taken, and every previously unquestioned norm is now reevaluated in the light of the freedom and autonomy that Bitcoin advocates.

This journey is transformative, affecting not just our financial lives but our worldviews. As we approach this significant milestone in Bitcoin's timeline, it is crucial to take a moment and appreciate just how much we've changed—for the better.

Where would you be had you not taken this path?

Learning about Bitcoin taught me about the fundamental resources of civilization. Until Bitcoin, we have never had a firm foundation for our monetary system. Gold was a physical representation of capital for thousands of years, but it cannot move at the speed of light, so it will not work for the civilization we are building.

The biggest change for me was the realization that the US Dollar is not money. With the loss of purchasing power that goes far beyond the simple measurement of inflation, seeing the value of the US Dollar fall over time suddenly made sense. And that made me realize that our entire global civilization is on the edge of a cliff slowly sliding in to the abyss, with Bitcoin (and now Nostr) being the only lifelines that can anchor us and hold us steady during the coming storm.

But we can't be complacent. We can't expect just holding this resource to do anything, we still have to prove our worth by Proof of Work. We have to expand our networks, embrace our differences and focus on building a new civilization on top of the new foundations that we have available. Bitcoin is Capital, the best representation of capital that humanity has so far invented. Nostr and the other decentralized information sharing services are the most secure storage and sharing mechanism for data that we have available to us, and we need to do as much as possible to take advantage of this opportunity. We need to take our inspiration from the periods of the past when our resource base changed, and build beyond our limits.
