Fair comment, I'm open minded enough to know that bitcoin isn't everyone's cup of tea. Art, music and general quirk is what I'd like more of on flare.

I think it's a problem with nostr in general, people are often open to b!tcoin but don't want 90% b!tcoin content. if you open flare as a non-nostr fanatic you would probably dismiss is just on first impressions (ditto nostr tbh).

imo the tipping system would be popular, but not the chat about it, the sloganeering or whatever. but i've mostly given up on complaining lolol I don't think it'll stop. i also think both have a v slim chance of reaching a wider audience, but i'm just here for the ride and curiosity ;)

Again a reasonable assessment. Maybe flare will be attractive for the fact that it isn't moderated for now and also as you say the tipping aspect. Well, I reckon we should just keep putting up quality, alternative content on flare and see where it goes.

This is partly what I mean, do you find there's too much coin chat? Or perhaps you've been more selective/not followed too many people. It's a common complaint in user retention. I suspect a lot of users should be discouraged to follow too many people, it can get a bit monotopic

One cannot try to follow elements without being flooded with coinchat. I'm told a client can filter hashtags, but I can't find it.

I am selective in who I follow, but that's been true since social networks proper have existed. And I've been on nearly all.

The network is monotopic, and I realized that from the start. I cannot honestly complain about coin, because it's built for coin.

Yes, someone helped me find the filter on Amethyst. Not intuitive at all. And I've tried three or four clients. Wildly inconsistent. Nothing good about that.

If you expect consistency among clients you must be new to FOSS in general. This is a protocol, not a platform. Clients and relays can do whatever the fuck they want as long as they follow the protocol.

I was on Mastodon before it was Mastodon. Clients are consistent, even cli.
