Somebody should make a Nostr Export/Import tool. It regularly downloads all your content + reactions to your content (all replies, all metadata events, all reports, all public chats, all private messages) and saves it in a Google Drive as a backup.

Maybe it should even offer a Google Doc/Text File for each feed so people can easily search for very old content.

Or should Amethyst have this? It kinda feels like this app is getting too big already.

Stand-alone app for sure! Great ideas 💡

I second, standalone app

Great idea!

Instead of integrating against Google Drive, simply provide the archive directly so that end users can put into Proton Drive or Sync(dot)com just as essily.

At least a following backup so recreate the account if someting fails / you need a new user.

Maybe offer options instead of only Google drive. Many don’t use it or want to do anything with Google

It should be separate I think

Is Umbrel replay not such tool already?

*relay

That would be so nice 🙂

Isn't all of that "saved" within your keys? Or it's in the relays? So far I could get back almost everything between clients. Or am I misunderstanding something here.

Data is on relays, no guarantee that a relay will store your data forever. Pruning relays are coming.

ok, thanks for clearing that 😉

A big app for a big Dev! Great work! 💜🤙🍀

You can do manual exports here which looks like a good start: https://nostrgraph.net/archive

But I like your idea of regular automated backups, and a way to import to a new relay could be useful

Make a way to import/export to a file and a button to send all your data to a specific relay

Yes.

Import or upload & sync from twitter data (from 1st post till latest).

An export to file option is maybe too much for Amethyst.

But an option to push your historical events to a private relay (i.e. #[2] ) may be a good idea.

I think Nostros client has recently implemented.

Do it please, I want this client side feature from day one on Nostr

Found this the other day: https://nostr-backup.pages.dev/
