gather a lot of wood ash into a large container and add water. the water that filters through is contains lye.
collect fat drippings from animal meat.
combine the fats and lye for saponification. requires stirring so use a big stick.
pour the mixture into molds or a large container to set and cure. this could take about a month so keep track with the phases of the moon.

after curing, cut into smaller blocks and voila, you have soap.
