*sighs* trying #minibits again.

Nope. Still too many errors zapping. Back to WoS, which is my standard for "it just effing works."

What's minibits?

a lightning/cashu ecash wallet for android

Is It a good wallet?

Not yet, IMO.

Definitely still feels like beta release

To be fair, it is still only in a dot 1 stage. It is.

it is 💯 % custodial, so don't put savings here, THEY CAN RUG. it is very easy to use for quick spends with lightning and ecash. also has nostr integration.

I like it a lot.

ironically, minibits is my 'just works' zapper. 🤣 whatever works works

I wish it just worked. I like it. It's just not reliable enough for me yet.

That was my minibits experience too.

eNuts also "just works", but it is L2, distributed but not trustless.

Nothing L2 is trustless yet unless you can manage your own node which blows, at this point.

I gave up on Alby

I just use Primal native for zapping, it also receives my Shopstr sales. I dump it out regularly to elsewhere.

I gotta take the time to figure out how to zap on desktop too

in process

Have you tried out Alby Hub's App Store that let's you connect to most Nostr web clients? No need to distribute your sats across apps. 🙂

No. I have not. Alby is just too complicated for my meager time and brain to bother trying to figure out at this point.

Yes, I was, I had about 5 apps connected that way, but they weren't using my nostr npub, and worse, I could never get my Alby wallet to zap, even on Primal. I went back and forth with Moritz by email and although he sent me resources, I was a lost cause. If I couldn't even get the free tools to work, didn't see any sense in using the paid ones.

I've since found a new wallet, a new signer for desktop, and am going forward with my new lightning setup w/POS through my existing merchant website. Also, I don't keep sats in any one place anyway. I'm not HODLing at this point. I earn btc and spend it, it's my new currency.

I just loaded up my Minibits wallet, from Phoenix, again. I really like both of them.

Just have to make sure to keep it open on my cell phone, when waiting for a zap to clear.

I zap-out with Minibits and zap-in with self-hosted Alby Hub, and that usually seems to work.

I get over half failures when trying to zap with minibits.

I'm not ready to bother self-hosting lightning.

Do you have Minibits open, on your cell phone, while you zap? Are you using Amethyst? It seems to register very slowly, on there.

Are you using it through NWC?

Yes, with Nostrudel on my laptop and Amethyst on my phone.

Huh. I can't zap you at the moment and I'm not sure why.

No idea. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Something changed a while back. It has to do with push notifications and some google thing. GrapheneOS doesn't like it, so I lost my zap ability. It's a shame because it worked so well for everything before that. Meanwhile, nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucm0d9hx7uewd9hj75a0pev has been absolutely killing it.

This has been an issue with android 14 and 15.

I think Google-ified android is getting overly aggressive about battery usage.

I don't think it's battery on this one, based on some messaging I had with them. Kind of feels like dealing with the GOS issues is a lower priority compared to android as a whole, which does make sense from an efficiency standpoint. Still early. I've seen a lot of frustrating bugs get chewed up after the devs get time to get to to it. I can wait, because I can't code.

Same.

I'm pretty glad I did figure this out for my own setup. It's a lot more convenient.
