Does anyone know if ableton runs on Linux or if there is some alternative? Same for Traktor. My dj homie killed his laptop and I'm considering giving him one of my clunkers.

Technically yes, but not well.
Sad. So windows or Mac is mostly needed? Or is there another program that works well for Linux
Bitwig runs on Linux, similar to Ableton and created by former Ableton devs.
From what I hear it’s very good. I’d love to get it but it’s low down on my priorities at the mo, at least until more 3rd party plugins work on Linux. Reaper is my daily driver so the switch to Linux is hopefully coming soon…
LMMS and Audacity are all a dj homie needs on Linux imo
Not sure how well wine or an emulator would perform to run abeltown
