Been out to the girls this morning 🌄

Went out to them on sunday and they had started making queen cells.

So went back out yesterday to do a vertical split. Long story slighly sorter, we take 3 or 4 frames with brood, eggs, stores and ideally a queen cell and then shake or smoke the bees off them and put them in an empty brood box.

That box is placed back on the original box on top of the Queen excluder. The nurse bees go up to look after the brood and you go back 8-12 hrs later and take the second box off and add a feeder bucket.

In theroy the new colony being queen less will raise a new queen.

We'll find out if it's worked in a month 👍🏻
