Now that all of Siberia's fighting men are in Ukraine, China has been kind enough to repopulate that region with its own. Which might get a bit awkward, if the original residents ever try to return.
Every time I see this theory the number gets lower. If they really had a pop of 500m that would make their economic rise even more impressive

Revising the population down by 25% would actually help solve the math for the GDP also being grossly overstated. Both numbers are probably inflated.

Unlikely to be less than 1.2b. China artificially lowers it's GDP through currency manipulation.

I was expecting the theory to be that they have false stats since a long time ago and now can't retract, that would make sense

The first time I saw this theory on YouTube a Chinese woman allegedly calculated China‘s real population with AI aka ChatGPT. When I checked her calculations I noticed that she made a mistake, the numbers were adding up with the official narrative, but she never responded to my comment
However, I believe official population numbers of mist states are wrong, simply because most states incentivize regions when they claim a higher population.
