if you focus on action only, this becomes a bypass in it self - you create workaholism etc.
the root cause of emotional pain/low self-esteem is lack of emotional processing skills.
if you don't solve the issues on the emotional level, you will repeat the destructive patterns in the external over and over again.
ONLY, if you process the unresolved emotions you can embody the lessons that these emotions are here to teach you, which THEN automatically lead to HEALTHY ACTION.
that's why hypnotherapeutic methods are way more efffective than cognitive behavioural therapy.
