The absolute easiest way is probably with Umbrel. Though, I recommend Start9 to people too. As for hardware, you can do this on a Raspberry Pi 4. Or you can buy a used mini-PC on eBay or an old laptop and use that.

Go for the cheap NUC (Next Unit of Computing), Mini PC or Raspberry Pi (if you can actually source one without getting ripped off).
