It's an uphill battle trying to get mine to eat the locally sourced, fresh, snacks/meals or single ingredient foods that I prepare.
The packaged shite is engineered to be like kidding crack.

Not even just for kids man the adults are supremely hooked too. And the normalization of it all has to make it 10x worse bc it seems like it’s totally fine from a kids perspective. Everyone’s doing it, everyone is fine, and that’s shit is so GOOD.
I worry about the day I have kids how to handle it all…
Ok, so its actually not THAT hard. It just requires discipline on your part.
If you never give your children garbage food, they may ask for it at the store or at a friends house, but they dont crave it.
For the first several years you absolutely do not give any sugar snacks of any sort.
People around me act like I "lucked out" because my kid wont eat candy, chocolate, or cake.
It wasnt luck.
It was discipline, I didn't give the easy foods, what's easier than eggs? They don't need quick snacks, they need substantial food. Once they're eating solid food there's really no reason to keep buying anything from the baby aisle in the store (food wise).
All those snacks and specially crafted feed items are just gearing the child toward bad habits and getting them hooked on carbs.
I bribe my kid with jerky not candy.
