First they came for the TikTokers

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a TikToker

It’s been the weirdest thing to watch people defend this action.

Very weird. It’s like the narrative that was pushed for justifying the ban has played on the right emotions and biases in many people. It’s been encouraging to hear some people in power speaking out but it all feels like too little too late. I think the majority of people, myself included, just thought there’s no way this ban would ever actually happen and then it did.

It’s like a “game day” to test what gaps there are in total internet lockdown. Feels like there are not any gaps.

And we (should) know the rest.

💯

💯

I can't wait till they have eyes on Nostr and start banning relays/clients, having them comply with the takedowns, and realize the network still functions.

I could do without regulators breathing down our necks here, which is why it’s important to recognize the danger of what the government is doing to TikTok. But reality is, that’s what nostr is designed to withstand and it’s why we’re here. 🤝

This isn't a sun tzu quote directly, but in an introduction, but it's relevant:

"The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable."

Someone I know follows a leftist meme type account on Facebook who was banned and had to change the name of their account to get it reinstated. They think this is great and that “correct“ censorship is necessary. They simultaneously believe that the United States is becoming the handmaids tail because Trump is president again. 🤷‍♂️

First they came for the TikTokers

And I did not speak out

Because I'm a nostrich.

Mine?
