Leather used by the big luxury brands are NOT necessarily the best ones. They are the commercial ones. Those with a uniform and resistant finish easily replicatable. Those finishes are a coat of plastic keeping your hands away from the real leather.

Keep this in mind.

How does this work with „a coat of plastic“? Is it applied like a upper color layer, or … ?

In this clip the great leatherstein explains how it's a plastic film that has been hot stamped on the leather. You can see it when he removes it with acetone.

It's not necessarily bad. I like saffiano. The texture pattern is very cool. But it's commercial grade.

I wouldn’t pay 2200 for a bag even if it was from scrotum leather.

I bought leather bags from a guy in Jerusalem. $300 for a huge travel bag, 250$ for a messenger.

Only issue is it’s from the ritually killed animals, but I guess I don’t care because it’s such a great quality.

I want to see

I’ll try to keep it in mind when I get home later tommorow.

Why did he cut open the bag ?? He could do whatever he did without destroying a 2200 dollar bag :-)

To get a real idea of the work that went behind it and the material costs. The full lenght videos goes in deeper details.

The impression I got - it is a fake bag ... Thank God I asked 🤣
