Having faith in something greater than yourself is an admission that your own reason and conscience tells you that such a thing exists. It is possible to pull on that thread. Doing so will necessarily lead you to God (AKA, base reality).

That is, unless you believe God has not given us the ability to know him, or he is lying to us. Those are consistent assumptions, but are also self-defeating. So you may as well assume you can find truth, and then pursue it.

How so? My point is that both philosophy and faith are reasonable, universal frameworks of meaning. I thought that's what we were talking about.

my understanding of the conversation is different.

its not necessarily true the Base Reality is the same thing as a "universal framework."

to switch up the terminology a bit,

there is the Eternal

and there is the Manifest.

Having faith in the Eternal doesnt necessarily say anything about how that Eternal appears as the Manifest.

guessing you disagree with that statement.

I agree they're distinct, but I don't think they're completely disconnected. It's possible to have a framework that doesn't reflect reality, but the purpose of the map is to accurately represent the territory right? If there is no map (or if it's inaccurate), we can't find our way.
