Users running a bitcoin node should at least be paid $1 a month for helping the network out.

There is not much benefit for people to run a node besides "muh privacy"

Uses a lot of resources such as disk and eleectricity

It’s not only for privacy, but for transaction validation. The cost is justified, no need to get paid. Buying and holding bitcoin covers that cost anyway.
