I take umbrage, not at the notion that someone might verify this or that data, it would be to everyones benefit if they did, but rather that the process of fact checking becoming outsourced and centralised in the hands of would be truth-tsars, and the common man becomes barred from the process outright.
Surely no one is advocating for a centralised fact checking source, but you can have your own multitude of sources/people/organisation that you trust to be truthful and fact check correctly
