The LBRY the project could have been great if they had just built it using lightning instead of their own token and going down that road 🙄 nostr:note1x9uzzumefljv82yqgzrlh4j8rmlxv03ralll9lvuyz0wq08gswyshz7rwl

True of a lot of value network projects that I've seen. But when most of those projects were being conceptualized, lightning was not as usable as it is today. It's come a long way in 3 short years.
LBRY
Filecoin
Packetcrypt
Many others
Even BitTorrent
Could all benefit from integrating Bitcoin lightning payments
I think privacy coins would work better for torrents, and even in general, but yeah, shame woth LBRY. Odysee may be adapted to another p2p project, lets hope so
What was the project? Assuming they had their own token, but what did promise?
I’m not too savvy on the technicals, but basically it was a peer to peer, decentralized file sharing protocol. Since it just pointed to the content there was no real way to censor/stop it.
The token aspect was for tipping content creators and “boosting” content with a sort of staking mechanism. (Of course it had a big pre-mine by the corporate entity.) If they had just used lighting to tip content creators it seems like it would have been on the up and up.
They wanted to control the token. Which made them an unregistered securities company. Bitcoin is the only way. There's no one to take to court.
They were too early, I wonder how hard it would be to implement now?
