Tough to say. Some think he was worried the CIA would find him and either kill him or lock him up? Maybe he knew the network was in good hands at that point & could only thrive without a leader? Maybe he was interested in pursuing other interests?

Beg pardon my buttinsky. If I were Satoshi, I would GTFO and enjoy my anonymity. Anyone that noble needs no acclaim and detests the fawning accolades of fame. No amount of “reward” can buy one’s peace of mind back. I regard him/her/them as messianic. Could I be wrong? Sure, but it gives me hope. ₿ hold!

Absolutely, that could be another reason as well 🤙

He’s still here but anon

What exactly do you mean when you say messianic?

Not meaning to be sacrilegious. I offer that one who brought redemption for many who were perhaps lost, misled, or reviled, must be a sort of savior to lead them out of the wilderness so-to-speak.

Prophetic perhaps?

That seems like a lot to put on a man. Do you think you would feel that way if his identity wasn’t a mystery?

Perhaps too fantastical, I admit. But, it is pleasant to ascribe noble designations to the creator of my new religion.

Just to clarify are you using creator of my new religion literally or a bit tongue in cheek?

Perhaps I am far too tongue-in-cheek, for lack of any better explanation, I speak metaphorically.

Can you be certain he is a he, not them, or her?

I was defaulting to he for simplicity sake.

I admire one who can build a global whatsit that pull others out of poverty and degradation and then walk away in such an apparently unselfish, modest manner. I suppose he/she/them/it could have been killed. It is endlessly fascinating that such a one could exist, similar to Jesus and his miracles and sacrifice. We have no hard proof of either men/entities; only hard proof of their legacies.
